Over a 36-year career, Tony has played an astonishing 450 games of first-grade cricket in Sydney – a level that is probably equivalent to first-class cricket in some countries.
He was still playing first grade as recently as 2016/17 and took 55 wickets in second-grade in 2017/18 at an average of 11.98 – showing he could easily still be playing at a higher level.
In the long and illustrious history of grade cricket in Sydney, no one has played more than Tony’s 636 games across all grades and only one player has played more than his 450 games of first grade.
Tony has taken 991 wickets and scored more than 11,700 runs across all grades. He is the all-time leading wicket-taker at first grade level for two different clubs (Sutherland (Glenn McGrath’s club) and Blacktown).
When he played a T20 with his son Ryan recently they became the first father/son combination in Sydney first grade since 1972.
