Kenny was born in Zambia but played most of his cricket for Boland and Western Province, and also represented the Netherlands.

In a career spanning 14 seasons he played 87 first-class matches, scoring over 4000 runs at 29 and taking 26 wickets at 26.15 with his medium-pacers, with a best of 5/42. In 114 List-A games, Kenny scored over 3000 runs at an average just under 30, with a century and 19 fifties.

Kenny was a pioneer of the “ramp” shot long before it became popular. He also happens to be the half-brother of Jonathan Trott.
